Happy Derby Week!  Looks like even the universe is celebrating.

NASA’s Webb Space Telescope has revealed the sharpest images yet of a portion of The Horsehead Nebula, a horse-shaped nebula in the Orion constellation that is also known as Barnard 33. It’s one of the most photographed objects in the sky!

And this is from the Hubble:

The Horsehead nebula, one of the most photographed objects in the sky, is shown in this picture shot from the Hubble telescope, revealing the cloud’s intricate structure. This detailed view of the horse’s head was released April 24, 2001 to celebrate the orbiting observatory’s eleventh anniversary. Hubble was launched by the Space Shuttle Discovery on April 24, 1990 and deployed into a 360-mile-high Earth orbit on April 25.

 

The new images show the “mane” in further detail.

Don’t tell the scientists, but I don’t see a horsehead.  Still cool, though.
